Monte Vibiano is partnering with the Biomass Research Centre on a state-of-the-art research project to develop the next generation of biofuels.
Headquartered at the University of Perugia, in central Italy and only 20 miles away from Monte Vibiano, the Biomass Research Centre is Italy’s leading Centre for research into the development of biofuels and the use of biomass for energy.
Sponsored by the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Territory, the Centre plays a key role in certifying biomass energy chains, verification of green certificates, and guaranteeing acquisition origin claims for electricity production from biomass plants.
In addition to developing and organizing national and local initiatives on the use of biomass for energy, the Centre promotes research and conducts experiments aimed at optimizing biomass production and processing, as well as energy conversion with an eye toward efficiency, profitability and environmental impact.
Biomass product labeling, biofuel and bioenergy certification and process verification are also areas where the Centre is leading the way toward developing a regulatory protocol that will address the legal framework required for permit procedures, grant allocations and other important activities.
